I freaking love this post! It gave me ideas how to build my own growth engine, still work in progress though.

I am rather unexperienced in the marketing field, and have a question alike: how would you describe a marketing site? I thought that is, in a way, synonymous to a lead-generation page.

Regards,
M

Hey Kimberly

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and I’m really glad to hear you got some value out of the post.

Good luck with acquiring the SaaS business you’re referring too and please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help!

This is probably the simplest and best article on creating a growth engine. We’re in the process of acquiring a SaaS business and plan to use it as a conversion vehicle to our complimentary paid service. I’m already thinking about best ways to optimize the business model Great work. Thank you

Hey Dave

Firstly, thanks so much for your kind words. I’m genuinely stoked to hear you got a lot of value out of the post.

I completely agree and have definitely been in the situation you speak of. There are so many different things you can do to drive growth (SEO, PPC, CRO, Content Marketing, etc) that it can be hard to know which one to focus on and how they really contributes to the bigger picture. I’m glad I was able to help overcome that.

Let me know how things go for you and don’t hesitate to reach out via email if I can help with anything!

Aaron

Thanks for writing it. I’ve been grappling with how to drive the growth of the SaaS side of my business for a long time and I think you’ve given me a great helicopter view of the landscape and some further reading for the detail. Like Justin, I’m going to start applying that lead nurturing email campaign right away. One thing though – none of the images are showing.
Cheers!

Hey Justin.

Glad to hear you got value out of the post. If you get the chance you should check out Patrick McKenzie’s course on lifecycle email marketing. He goes into much more detail on what makes a successful campaign than I have here and his course was a big influence on that lead nurturing series I mentioned. It’s also worth putting some thought into the different ways you get people to ‘signup’ for the nurturing series. I know WPEngine send their series off after someone does a free speed test using their speed test tool, other companies use free tshirt giveaways and stuff like that which usually work quite well.

Good luck with and let me know if I can help in any way!

I am knee deep in getting our email strategies all set so I literally copy/pasted your nurturing section into a word doc lol. Love the concept of optimizing each phase of the referral process also. Often times people just thinking having a referral program is enough!
